Today I ran in the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon.
And...I beat my time! I was so excited to get a 1:43.44 Over a minute faster than my goal run. I placed 649 out of about 15,000 and got 30th in my division. It was a fun race, the weather was perfect, and it was a reminder how quirky runners can be.
Here are a few of the funny things I saw today.
1)The competition started before the race. When I was on my way downtown at 5:30am there was an unusual amount of traffic. I knew there would be with 15,000 more people there than usual. But it was funny to see the runners swerving in and out of traffic, competing to get to the start line first, and fighting for the parking spots.
2) When I got to mile 10 I passed a man who had apparently ran the whole race barefoot. I didn't stop and ask him why, but I kept watching out for him. I didn't want him to step on a sharp rock.
3) There was the usual people dressed up. I saw a whole team with bunny ears. And several people with tiger tails. Again...runners are weird.
