So I am helping my brother shed the last few pounds of his goal weight and "get ripped" via long distance! It has been fun to email and hear how his workouts are going. It's hard not being there to kick his butt and physically see and monitor his workouts.
Doing it this way takes a lot of commitment on his part, but I think he has it in him.
When we were initializing this training one of his first questions was, "do you know of any on-line tracking programs". My first thought was..."tracking programs? Isn't that what I do?"
So I asked around, and as it turns out, NONE of my personal training friends knew of any. No one used them and no one recommended them for clients. My guess is because tracking progress and motivating and encouraging is part of what we do. These online programs do this as well.
But I am happy to say, I FOUND ONE! This one is good. And a special plus: It's free! These programs are very rarely free. But this one was created by a man who made a lot of money (selling his online auction company to ebay) and decided what he wanted to do with his millions was set up something to help people around the globe get and stay healthy. He is passionate about this.

I've looked at a lot of different tools and this is the best one by far. There are options for tracking your exercise AND your nutrition. There's a mobile site so you can add stuff using your phone/pda and there are lots of options for creating "friends" lists or family teams.
I'm on Spark People day three after reading it on your blog. I love it and it really is keeping me in line because you see where you're at every time you add a food you have eaten. It also gives you excercises, menu plans etc. I LOVE IT. Thanks Rachael!!
