Negative Splits

I hope you all enjoyed your turkey yesterday.

Me and about 5,000 others in Chesterfield, MO got up early to get some fresh air and run a 5k together. I met some friends there and thoroughly enjoyed the crisp breeze and knowing for a fact that I could later eat an extra piece of pie because I burned about 300 extra calories that morning.

If I would have been able to go home, my sister informed me that I would only be able to enjoy about half of the pie that they consumed. They ate something called "Milky Way Cheesecake" which had 600 calories per piece. That, my dears, is called SIN.

On to the race. Whenever I approach a race day I typically have a goal in mind. And typically my goal is to run a negative split. The concept of a negative split is simple. Basically every mile (split) is faster than the last. My goal yesterday was to run 3 miles. Mile #1 - 9 min. Mile #2 - 8:30. Mile #3 - 8 min. And I think I accomplished my goal. I finished in 25:34. It's not exactly my college time, but I'll take it.
