Thanksgiving Day Treats!

I just read an article which stated that "the average Thanksgiving meal contains 3,000 calories and 200+ grams of fat." In ONE MEAL!!

The average American gains 2-6 pounds over the holidays. If you would like to be an average American, all you have to do really is consume 500 extra calories a day over the next few weeks. Which isn't that hard to do. Just eat a piece of pie and 1-2 cookies and there's your 500+ calories.

So here's my Thanksgiving tips:
  • Be careful about portion sizes this year. Remember 1 portion size is the size of the palm of your hand. There's always leftovers!
  • Opt for pumpkin pie (unless you're my husband who can't stand it). Unlike most pies, pumkin pie weighs in at only 180 calories/slice. Even less without the crust.
  • Enjoy your family. Rob and I don't get to go home this year and I am missing my family like crazy!
