The Anti-Shoe

I just ran across a new shoe. It's the MBT shoe.

Masai Barefoot Technology. There is a Swiss company out there that put a lot of research into creating a shoe that imitates what the foot does when it is not wearing a shoe. Interesting.

I'll bet the guys who ran the Go! St. Louis Marathon barefoot would like these shoes.

The website is great, and it does seem like a very functional fitness shoe that has many benefits to nearly every posterior (backside) muscle you have.

There's two problems that I see with the shoe.

#1. The price. They retail at $245. I have a really hard time swallowing the $90 I pay for my shoes 1-2 times per year. I don't know many people who would pay that for shoes.

#2. The attractiveness. When it comes to fitness, I'm really not all that interested in being attractive. Seriously. If you truly want to get a good workout, let's face it. There's no cutsie outfit that makes sweat at all glamorous. But these shoes are just not at all enticing.

So here's my question to you:
Forget the price. If these shoes were affordable and still offered all the benefits they say they do, would you wear them daily? I still haven't made up my mind. What do you think??
