2-day rule

So I have a 2-day rule when it comes to fitness. One should NEVER under any circumstance rest more than 2 days in a row. 1 day of rest is good. We need it. Our muscles need it to repair themselves, our brains need it, we need it. Sometimes if we've built up to a long distance event or a heavy lifting week, we could use a couple days of rest. But we do not ever need more than 2. And in fact, our fitness level decreases exponentially when we take off that 3rd day. This week I was not able to get into a gym or run for 3 days in a row. It about killed me. The reasoning was snow related, husband out of town related, and kid with ear infection related. The effects have not been fun.

Muscles: I feel weak. In my training of my clients, I feel weak. My legs have a jittery, "you need to get me moving" feeling which stinks. I can't seem to relax and unwind.
Brain: I'm about to go crazy. I'm short tempered with my kids and very irritable right now. `
Sleep: NOT.

So today I got in a good workout, and I have moved the universe so as to get in my long run tomorrow. I know it's sunday and my hubby is still out of town. I know that the Y child care is only open during nap time (12-3). But I WILL get in that long run. My children and returning husband will thank me for it.
