Right now I am reading Younger Next Year and loving it! It's a book about living healthy and fit into retirement and beyond. Since a majority of my clients are over the age of 40, I thought it would be a good book for me to read. There's a few things I don't totally agree with (I think our God made these amazing bodies), but the author does a great job of explaining the science behind fitness and he puts it in good, understandable terms.
Here's a section of what I read last week:
"For years there was this neat little anomaly in how hard people said they worked out and their mortality. In surveys, there was a clear correlation between how much men said they worked out and how early they died. Agreeably enough, the results went: Work out more, die later. But for Women, there was no correlation at all. Weird. So they did tests to correlate actual fitness, as measured by stress tests, and mortality. This time, there was a near perfect correlation for men and women. How come? Women lied more about how much they worked out."
But of course, you would never lie to your trainer....right?
